their Beginners’ Course on Saturday afternoons. It’s an opportunity for the community to
try out archery. Those who have really
enjoyed it, can go on to join us, or one of the many
other clubs dotted about the county. Our Annual Club Dinner is held,
usually on a Friday evening at one of the local hotels. |

Our indoor shooting comes to an
end with our Indoor Championship on the last Thursday of the month. We then all wait for the clocks to change
and football to cease before we can enjoy weekday evening shooting, and a
return to Salfords. The field course
will still be there of course, but now Target Archers can prepare for the
summer, obtaining the long distance sight marks that only Salfords can
accommodate. |

April |
The season starts with a St George
/ Albion Open Tournament at Tonbridge.
As we prepare for the Summer, we
will also be spending a couple of hours checking our lock-up at Salfords,
reviewing our equipment and having a general clean up before the season
starts in earnest. The committee will
ensure there is enough equipment for the coming season, while archers can
give our stands another coat of paint.
The respective tournament organizers work on getting the details of
each shoot finalized. |

Crawley Archery Club hold the first of their Open events, a Western round of 8

organize and run the event, with archers coming from as far away as Hasting

Two major competitions this
month. At the beginning, the Later in the month, on the last
Sunday of the month, is the club’s Annual Target Tournament. There are plenty of prices for all
abilities, followed by a relaxed prize giving, and then a club barbeque. All in all, a lovely way to spend a Sunday. |

The Field shoot takes place mid
month over both Saturday and Sunday.
Club archers help run the tournament, which actually seems to run
itself most of the time. Attendance to
the shoot has always been good, with archers returning year after year. I think some know the course better than we
do! None the less, the day goes
smoother with archers controlling the parking and helping with the
refreshments. |

October |
The Indoor season commences, and
with the change of the clocks we abandon Salfords once more. The indoor hall is spacious enough for nine
targets, enough for 36 archers, and long enough to shoot 25 meters, as well
as the more commonly used 18 meters.
As we begin the winter season, we’ll be checking the equipment and
making sure there are enough faces to last the year. |
|
November |
As the evenings draw in and the
weather deteriorates, we shoot on. The
Frostbite league commences, first Sunday of each month, after which we’ll
begin to spend some time clearing the holly from the woodland. |

December |
A short month, as the indoor
venue closes its doors early in the month until January. But not before the club have enjoyed a
Festive evening, an evening for all the family where there are prizes for
juniors, novices, and the best at Archery Darts! |
